As the United States continued to expand and the population continued to grow, keeping the public informed became very important. The idea of slavery became a focal point in America society. Using these newspapers, pamphlets, and books helped spread information and became more influential in changing the views on slavery.

To introduce the students to the idea of mass production and assembly line work I would divide my class in to teams and give them supplies they will need for jeep construction such as construction paper, scissors, glue, etc... and give them 15 minute prep time....I will give them a template of a jeep and they make as many as they can during a certain time. To illustrate rationing they have to make the most jeeps out of the material given. I usually offer bonus test points for the winners. I also will take a person from the teams to illustrate the value of coming to work everyday when people depend on them.
