Title: Who, What, Where , When, Why and How
Grade Level: Elementary
Short Answer:
I would bring as many primary sources as I could find for one particular event in history. Have the students look at them answer the basic who, what , where, when, why, and how. Then perhaps they could fill out a KWL chart. (what do I already know, what do I want to know, what did I learn). This would be a good way to introduce a topic

A good way to introduce the war would be giving students advertisement and propaganda posters from that time period and have them analyzing them without any introduction...maybe some questions to answer to lead them towards WWI or WWII. Have student share what they learned and then discuss. And then share the connection between propaganda and advertising and the war effort.

Title: Act it Out
Grade Level: Middle
Short Answer:
I like the idea of having students act out different scenarios. Some students would play the colonist maybe some artifacts they could "play with" then other students be the British-me giving them their mindset before we begin then we would "Act out" and discuss how they would feel when big bad British comes in and starts taxing. I would try really hard to get them to see both sides.

Title: They did what?
Grade Level: Elementary
Short Answer:
When teaching this to fourth or fifth graders they never understand why the British lined up to fight in an open field. I find the having them act it out and show pictures of various weapons used they begin to understand a little better. I like to compare the Revolutionary War to the Civil War because of the change in the weapons and tactics we discuss why more lives were lost in the Civil War compared to the Revolutionary War
